Key IT was founded in 2021 to do one thing properly: give Melbourne businesses IT support they could actually rely on, from people they could actually reach. Years on, that has not changed — we are still Australian-owned, still based in Melbourne's north-east, and still answering the phone ourselves. What has changed is the world around our clients, and the depth of what it takes to keep them safe.
Why we exist
The business started because too many Melbourne companies were being treated as ticket numbers by providers who only showed up when the invoice was due. We set out to be the opposite: a genuinely local team that knows your business, picks up when you call, and fixes the root cause rather than the symptom.
How we evolved into a security-first provider
As cybercrime moved from a rare event to a daily threat, we made a deliberate decision: security would no longer be a service we offered, but the foundation everything else was built on. We built an in-house Security Operations Centre, invested in security certifications across the whole team, and began mapping every client environment to the Essential Eight as standard. We hold ourselves to the same standards we set for our clients.
